Dad read us The Srcret Garden when we were very young! It was my mom’s favorite story – not a story book – but the entire novel was read after weary hours at the farm. I still hear him, sometimes struggling to stay awake

! I dreamt of Mary and Colin tending the garden and seeing the sickness leave the withered limbs of starved trees and untrusted legs.
